Current national crime data from the Israel Police indicate: Binyamin Council is one of the safest areas in Israel.
The data, published against the backdrop of claims of widespread violence in Judea and Samaria, presents a well-established picture of a high level of personal security in the area – and calls into question the attempt to present the region as one characterized by widespread violence.
According to the data, the crime rate in the Binyamin Council - where the Haredi city of Modi'in Illit is located - is only about 10 crime cases per 1,000 residents - less than half the national average, which is about 25. This is a significant gap that places the council as one of the areas with the highest level of personal safety in Israel.
According to the report, only 867 crime cases were registered in the Binyamin Council. A breakdown of the types of offenses shows that the majority of the cases are public order offenses (about 32%) and property offenses (about 24%), while violent offenses account for only about 16%, and more serious offenses appear at very low rates.
The data indicates not only a low level of crime, but also the nature of offenses with a relatively low level of severity, and illustrates the daily reality of personal security alongside dealing with complex security challenges.
This data makes it clear that the Binyamin Council is one of the areas with the lowest crime levels in Israel.
Council Chairman Israel Gantz said: “We are very proud of these figures. These are not just numbers – but the result of a journey. In recent years, we have built a clear model of a strong community, presence on the ground and close cooperation with security forces in the Binyamin Council.
