An investigation opened at the Etzion police station in recent days led to the arrest of David Naftali Hertz Roth, an educator and resident of Beitar Illit, who is suspected of committing serious acts in front of children during Shabbat.

At the request of police investigators, a district court today (Thursday) ordered that the suspect remain behind bars for the sake of continuing the investigation - and allowed his identity to be published.

During the day - and at the request of the investigation representative from the Etzion station - the district court reversed the release decision made last night in the Magistrate's Court and even allowed the identity of the educator, who was arrested last Tuesday, to be published.

The arrest was made after a complaint was filed at the Etzion police station earlier this week by a resident of Beitar Illit, who said that while his daughters were walking on a Saturday afternoon on one of the neighborhood streets, a young man with an ultra-Orthodox appearance passed by them and committed an indecent act against them, in front of them - despite their age.

Immediately upon receiving the report, police investigators began professional operations, tracking down the suspect, who apparently realized that his actions had been exposed.

Through rapid detective activity, with intelligence escort, the suspect was located and arrested on Highway 443 - as he made his way to the center of the country, possibly with the aim of escaping justice, since he was found in a heavily-clothed vehicle.

According to the suspicion and the investigation materials so far, it appears that on Saturday morning, while he was at the synagogue, the suspect exposed himself to minors who were there. Later that day, in the afternoon, as several little girls passed him in the middle of the street, he repeated his actions in front of them.

At the end of today's hearing, his detention was extended by 5 days, in order to continue the investigation and police attempts to locate additional victims.

The police request: "Due to the need for investigation and the fear that there are additional victims who fell victim to these acts on that Sabbath or in general, we ask that if the public has information about victims who were harmed by David Naftali Hertz Roth, they contact one of the police stations or the 100 hotline.".
