Do they want to force it on us? The National Authority for Educational Measurement and Evaluation published today (Thursday) the results of the 'Tnufa' tests in Hebrew and English for ninth graders - and the findings indicate a worrying decline in the level of academic achievements of students in all education systems in Israel.

The tests were held last year for the first time in six years, and over 30,000 students participated.

The data shows that almost 801% of ninth-grade students do not meet the requirements of the curriculum set by the Ministry of Education in English.

The students partially meet the requirements, ranging from close to the required threshold to significant gaps.

According to the data, the average achievement of students in Arabic-speaking schools is 24 points lower than the average in Hebrew-speaking schools, and only 9 percent of students in Arabic-speaking schools meet the required level, compared to 271% of students in Hebrew-speaking schools.

According to test results, 621% of ninth-grade students do not meet the requirements of the mother tongue curriculum.

The average achievement of students in Arabic-speaking schools is 32 points lower than the average in Hebrew-speaking schools (191% of students in Arabic-speaking schools meet the curriculum requirements compared to 441% of students in Hebrew-speaking schools).

The Ministry of Education noted that 10,305 female students and 1,428 male students in ninth grade participated for the first time in the national exams in 2015 under Haredi supervision.

In the English test, a significant gap in achievements was found: only 7 percent met the requirements of the curriculum, compared to 161% in state religious education and 311% in state-supervised education (similar gaps were found in the comparison between the girls' groups only).

Compared to all Arabic speakers, there is no significant gap between the groups (seven percent under Haredi supervision compared to nine percent among all Arabic speakers).

In the mother tongue test, no real gap was found between the achievements of students in the various types of supervision among Hebrew speakers (state, state-religious, and Haredi).
