United States President Donald Trump said today (Wednesday) that the naval blockade against Iran will continue - until the regime agrees to his terms on the nuclear issue.
In another statement this evening about the continuation of the blockade on Iran, as a move that will motivate it to an agreement, the president said: "The blockade is brilliant. Now they have to cry and say they are surrendering. We have conversations with them, we do it by phone, and it is very nice. Right now there will be no deal unless they agree not to have nuclear weapons.".
Earlier today, in an interview with the Axios website, the president said that the blockade "is in a way more effective than the bombings. They are being suffocated like a fattened pig, and it's going to be worse for them. They shouldn't have nuclear weapons.".
He added that Iran wants to reach an agreement that will lift the blockade. "They want a settlement. They don't want me to continue the blockade. I don't want to do that (lift the blockade), because I don't want them to have nuclear weapons.".
The president noted that Iran's oil reserves and pipelines are "going to explode soon" because Iran cannot export oil due to the blockade.
In an interview with Barak Ravid on Channel 12, the president said he told Netanyahu "that he needs to act in Lebanon in a more surgical manner. Not to knock down buildings. You can't do things like that. It's too terrible and makes Israel look bad.".
""I love Lebanon. I love the Lebanese leadership. Hezbollah is the problem. It used to be a great country. But Iran destroyed Lebanon. Their proxy destroyed Lebanon. But Lebanon can go back to what it was. If we finish Iran, we will automatically finish Hezbollah.".
Regarding the pardon for Netanyahu, he said: "I spoke with Netanyahu yesterday and he told me he needs to be in court today. In the middle of a war? Do me a favor. Netanyahu can't take a plea bargain. He needs to be pardoned. He's a leader in a time of war. He can't continue to have this trial hanging over his head.".
He changed his tone towards President Herzog: "I like Herzog. Tell him I would really appreciate it if he granted Netanyahu a pardon. If he granted Netanyahu a pardon, he would be a national hero. This sentence also makes Israel look very bad in the world.".
Earlier, Trump published a post on social media, in which he shared an image created using artificial intelligence in which he is seen holding a weapon.
In the post, Trump wrote in English: "Iran can't get its act together. They don't know how to sign a non-nuclear agreement. They better get their act together soon! President Donald J. Trump - there's no nicer gentleman!""
The American Wall Street Journal reported that Trump has ordered his advisors to prepare for the possibility of extending the naval blockade on Iran.
According to the report, Trump told his close team that he preferred the option of extending the naval blockade over other options, including renewed attacks on Iran or a unilateral American withdrawal.
Trump said the US military was "doing very well in the Middle East" and that Iran had been defeated. "We have defeated our adversary militarily, we will never allow that adversary to obtain nuclear weapons.".
