The world of Halacha meets the pinnacle of technology: In a unique initiative of the 'Karlin Rabbinical Association', a series of meetings and seminar evenings was recently opened at the Scientific and Technological Institute of Halacha in Jerusalem.

The meetings, dedicated to theoretical classes and professional lectures, deal with the burning issues of the hour: the use of innovative technological equipment in the cycle of life and Halacha.

This welcome initiative is the fruit of the vision of Rabbi Ephraim Binnick, who led the process with talent and wisdom. The full cooperation with the institute's management brought the idea from strength to strength, while creating an exceptional educational platform for teachers.

The opening meeting was attended by dozens of rabbis from Karlin-Stolin Hasidic communities from all over the country. Around the tables sat renowned rabbis, rabbis of the Midianites, and heads of kollel, who are at the forefront of the rulings in their communities and are called upon daily to answer the complex questions that come to them in the wake of rapid technological developments.

The event was opened with warm words of blessing by the elder of the Hasidic rabbis, the Chasidic Gaon Rabbi Yehoshua Shimon Brezel, rabbi of the 'Fri Haaretz' neighborhood and of the Great Yad in Givat Ze'ev. In his words, the rabbi emphasized the unique nature of the institute, founded by the Gaon Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Halperin zt"l.

He noted the great privilege of studying the topics "from the very beginning" and praised the rabbis and engineers of the institute for standing at the forefront of pure halakhic law. He also recommended that the rabbis use the institute's magazine "Espeklaria," which serves as a first-rate aid for teachers.

The evening was centered around a comprehensive lesson by the head of the institute, Rabbi Avraham Moshe Halperin. In an in-depth lesson that lasted about an hour and a half and served as an introduction to the entire series, the rabbi clearly defined the foundations of Shabbat in the modern era. The lesson sparked a stormy Torah debate among the participating rabbis, who raised practical questions from a lively "Ritcha Da'Oriyata.".

After the class, the rabbis took an educational tour of the institute's display and innovation laboratories, accompanied by Rabbi Yosef Hildesheimer. The rabbis observed closely the rigorous testing processes and technological developments that bear the institute's prestigious seal of approval.

The rabbis concluded the meeting with deep gratitude to the organizers, noting the critical importance of the knowledge they acquired for their communities. "This meeting opened a window for us to a whole world of technological-halachic understanding," the participants concluded, looking forward to the rest of the series.
