Amit Segal, Channel 12's senior political commentator, analyzed the statements made by Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid at the press conference they held this evening (Sunday) - and emphasized that the two mostly evaded the real questions that cloud their connection.

""A government consists of two things: management and ideology. The list of Bennett and Lapid should tell us what its views are. For example - on legal reform. We have Yair Lapid who took to the streets in the Kaplan protests and Bennett who stayed home and a few years ago said that the soldiers are more afraid of the MAG than Mihya Sinwar.

""Bennett says he will not give an inch to the enemy, and how does that fit in with Yair Lapid's speech as Prime Minister at the UN General Assembly? Does he no longer believe that settlers should be evacuated?" Segal wondered.

He added: "The biggest question is the composition of the next coalition. Because according to all the polls, this coalition does not have enough seats for a government of 61. What do they do then? Reach out to Benjamin Netanyahu? To Smotrich? Or run to Ra'am and the Joint List? They will have to answer all of these questions in the six months remaining until the elections.".

Segal also analyzed the unity move itself: "Despite Lapid's denials, it was clear that he would not be able to run alone, because the threshold was getting very dangerously close to him. Last Sunday, he met with Bennett and told him: 'I will go with you and be number 2.' The majority of the list belongs to Naftali Bennett. Yesh Atid will have representation that, according to the upcoming polls, it could only dream of.".

The commentator emphasized: "This is a huge gamble on the future of the elections. Yair Lapid, among right-wing voters in the polls, is in the same areas as Yair Golan in terms of lack of sympathy. On the one hand, this looks like a move that is supposed to deprive Naftali Bennett of the right-wing mandates, the dowry in the name of which he leads the elections.".

He tried to get into the "head" of the leaders of the "Together" party - the name of the new party.

""There is the argument of the two that says, it's not like in 2021 when Bennett and Lapid committed an act of fraud. This time it is declared that they are going to form the coalition together. In their opinion, it doesn't matter that much to a voter who is fed up with Netanyahu, angry with Smotrich and disappointed with Ben Gvir, whether Lapid will be a senior minister because he is in the coalition or because he is in the faction.".
