In preparation for the elections for the position of Chief Rabbi of the city of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, the Ministry of Religious Affairs publishes interesting data:

Tel Aviv as an "assembly line" for chief rabbis: Since its founding, 12 rabbis have served in the city.

The number is amazing - 50% of all Tel Aviv rabbis continued to serve as Chief Rabbi of Israel.

''Springboard' for the Chief Rabbinate Council: Tel Aviv is not only the metropolitan center of Israel, it is also the official 'springboard' for the Chief Rabbinate Council. The rabbi elected today not only assumes leadership of the city, but automatically becomes a member of the Chief Rabbinate Council of Israel.

The main team: Rabbi Kook, zt"l, Rabbi Ben Zion Meir Chai Uziel, zt"l, Rabbi Isser Yehuda Unterman, zt"l, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, zt"l, Rabbi Shlomo Goren, zt"l, and Ybalchat"a Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar, Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau.

The Tel Aviv Religious Council in numbers: The spokeswoman for the Ministry of Religious Services presents the "identity card" of religious services in the big city:

There are 547,226 Jewish people living in Tel Aviv.

First place in marriage: The largest religious council in Israel, which has held the record for marriage registration in the country for several years.

Synagogues: Approximately 500 synagogues are active throughout the city from Jaffa to Ramat Aviv.

Kosher: 1100 businesses hold a kosher certificate (Kosher Culinary Powerhouse).

Purity: 39 active mikvahs with high standards.

Leadership in the field: Alongside the Chief Rabbis, there are 6 neighborhood rabbis who constitute the direct connection with the community.

The Religious Council is headed by Eldad Mizrahi, a resident of Tel Aviv-Yafo.

""Did you know?""

Rabbi Ovadia Yosef and Rabbi Shlomo Goren served together as the city's rabbis, a combination of two figures who led the city at the same time.
