""In an interview with the media, the army announced the complete cancellation of the Haredi screening center," announces the headline on the front page of the Yated Ne'eman newspaper this morning, referring to an interview given yesterday by Brigadier General Gadi Agmon, head of the planning division in the personnel division of the General Staff, to Radio Kol Barama.
The newspaper this morning divides between young men and young men over the age of 22, who are called to report to the draft office, and young men from the ages of 18 to 22 - for whom the decision will be made soon, and until then, the directive of the Council of Torah Scholars exists that they must report to the draft offices, upon receiving the first and second orders.
""It was clarified that no procedure will be required other than receiving the exemption at the recruitment office, as was customary in the past, and upon receiving the exemption, Torah students will continue to study their Talmud," the newspaper writes.
The newspaper notes that "regarding the orders to report for the purpose of deferring service - to which yeshiva students aged 18-22 are called every year in order to regulate their status as yeshiva students, the Gedolei Yisrael will return and discuss how yeshiva students who receive the orders will conduct themselves.".
""However, those eligible for exemption, over the age of 22, who are currently called to report to receive an exemption - will report and receive the exemption, without any additional procedure from the army, and thus will be able to return to the yeshiva.".
It should be noted that the Rebbe of Vizhnitz ordered his followers on the eve of the holiday not to pay any attention to the draft orders. "People are walking around with embarrassment and confusion," he said. "There are harsh and terrible decrees here in the Land of Israel regarding military matters. They send letters to come and report to the draft office, and if you don't report - they threaten to take you to prison. People receive letters, first order, second order, third order. And it says there that their child has to report, and they don't know what will happen, and they are already thinking, here comes the police to take their son into custody.
""So first of all, we must not be afraid and trust in the Creator of the world, for the Keeper of Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. Just as the decree was annulled by the holy Baal Shem Tov (at the beginning of the Tish, the Rebbe spoke about the decree that the Baal Shem Tov annulled on the seventh of Passover), so too here today the decrees will be annulled and the foundation of the Torah will be raised in the Land of Israel.".
At this point, the Rebbe instructed the Hasidim: "Do not pay any attention to the letters that come from them. Each parent should treat the order as if it were a simple note ("פושטע שטלאה"), and not to pay attention to the letters from the army. Of course, as I said before, one should study Torah more and the decrees will be nullified.".
