Shock in the Jewish community in Kyrgyzstan: Unusual anti-Semitic documentation distributed in recent days from a hotel in the city of Osh has caused a stir.

This was after the management of the Hotel Villa placed a sign at the entrance explicitly prohibiting the entry of Jews and pets.

The sign, written in Kyrgyz, Russian and English, included illustrations of a Star of David and a dog crossed out with a red line - an image that evokes difficult memories from the Holocaust era.

Yoav Bystritsky, Israel's ambassador to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, immediately worked with local government officials to lead to the removal of the sign and dealing with those responsible for it.

""I welcome the authorities' swift action to remove the anti-Semitic sign and to open a criminal investigation against those responsible," the ambassador said.

He emphasized that this kind of hatred has no place in modern society.

Following public and diplomatic pressure, the sign was removed in less than a day.
