As part of the agreement signed in 2024, worth approximately 560 million euros - approximately 2 billion NIS -, the Ministry of Defense, through the Defense Export Division 'Civet' and IAI Aerospace Industries, announced today (Thursday) the delivery of the BARAK MX air defense system to the Slovak Air Force.

The delivery of the system, while advancing the timelines, also includes the transfer of training and operational know-how. The delivery will enhance Slovakia’s air defense capability against a variety of modern threats, including drones, fighter jets, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles, and strengthens NATO’s collective security architecture.

The agreement between the countries reflects the growing global demand for advanced and reliable air defense solutions that can be rapidly deployed, and promotes industrial cooperation with Slovakia, including local production, technology transfer, and economic growth.

The BARAK MX system is a multi-layered air defense system designed for land, sea and mobile deployment. Its three advanced interceptors operate at ranges of 35, 70 and 150 km, and are equipped with advanced radars, enabling accurate and simultaneous interception of multiple threats in complex operational environments. At the heart of the system is an advanced combination of multi-mission radars that provide detection, classification and tracking capabilities.

Defense Minister Israel Katz: "The delivery of the system is another expression of the strength of the Israeli defense industry and our ability to provide our allies with advanced solutions to many threats. The Resurgence War proved beyond any doubt the effectiveness of Israeli systems on the battlefield - and led to a significant increase in global demand for our defense solutions. The system will significantly strengthen Slovakia's defense capabilities - and we are already recognizing growing interest from additional countries, and additional significant deals are expected to be signed in the near future. This agreement is not only a defense achievement - but also an engine for industrial cooperation, knowledge transfer, and the cultivation of local production capabilities, which deepen the connection between the countries and strengthen Israel's position as a key partner in the international arena."

Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Maj. Gen. Amir Baram: "The delivery of the BARAK MX system to Slovakia is evidence of the depth of the strategic relationship between the two countries. Israeli defense exports are a key tool for building the IDF's power, influencing foreign policy, and strengthening the economy and industry. Implementing these capabilities in Europe, in accordance with NATO standards, emphasizes the operational superiority of Israeli industry and will assist us in promoting additional deals."
