In a festive ceremony in the Mitzpe Yishai neighborhood in Kedumim, Communications Minister Shlomo Karai inaugurated the first communications mast erected in Judea and Samaria with state funding - with the participation of Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Council Chairman Uzel Vatik.
The event marks the beginning of the construction of 1,400 new housing units in the nearby "Nahalat Esther" neighborhood and the transformation of Kedumim into a central council in Samaria.
This is the first swallow of the Communications Company's mast tender.
This site joins dozens of sites that have already been established in the last three years, and dozens more that are expected to be established throughout Judea and Samaria in the coming year.
In phase one of the tender, 22 masts are being erected; the mast inaugurated today is the first to be operational, while the masts erected in Baruchin, Kedar, Almog Junction and Mitzpe Jericho are awaiting electricity connection.
A cut-off for 27 additional masts in phase two will be announced soon, so that a total of 49 masts will be erected in the first two phases.
The ceremony was held in the presence of the head of the Kedumim Council, the management of the Ministry of Communications, the Communications Commandant, and representatives of the infrastructure and cellular companies, who praised the inter-ministerial cooperation that expedited the implementation.
The Minister of Communications: "From the heart of Samaria in Kedumim, to all of Judea and Samaria. The mast that we are inaugurating today as a cornerstone for Kedumim, the great city, is the opening shot for dozens of additional cellular sites that will be established here in Gaza in the coming year in an unprecedented national project, alongside dozens that we have already established throughout Judea and Samaria.".
""Three years ago, Prime Minister Netanyahu, at my request, declared the communications infrastructure in Judea and Samaria a national project and a security necessity. Today we are bringing this to fruition on the ground. Sovereignty - in practice!""
Deputy CEO, Lilach Weinstock: "The erection of the first mast in Mitzpe Yishai is the beginning of the implementation of a strategic plan designed to break through historical barriers and erase the absorption gaps in Judea and Samaria. In the coming months, we are moving from the planning phase to vigorous implementation on the ground, out of a commitment to providing every resident with advanced communications infrastructure that is an anchor for personal security, economic growth, community resilience and quality of life.""
