At the residence of the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch, rabbis, yeshivot heads and Torah scholars gathered last weekend for a "Lechaim" party on the occasion of the coronation of the Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Klein to the position of overseer and spiritual director of his high yeshiva in the city of Beit Shemesh.

The new appointment comes against the backdrop of the yeshiva's tremendous growth and expansion ahead of the 'time of Elul', while at the same time, construction work on the new yeshiva's Kiryat Ha-Rama D has recently begun.

At the center of the event, Rabbi Sternbuch spoke insightful words about the spiritual situation in the country: "We are very happy that a new supervisor has entered the yeshiva. There is a sanctification of God in this, especially at a time when the wicked are working to destroy the world of Torah. We are not impressed by them, and on the contrary, we will strengthen the Torah even more, to strengthen and build the holy yeshivahs.".

In his remarks, the Rosh Yeshiva outlined the image of the ideal yeshiva, quoting his rabbi, the late Rabbi Moshe Schneider: "The work of a mishgachi is to build the entire form of the yeshiva. Rabbi Schneider would say that a yeshiva is not a university where you study a profession. In a yeshiva, you build a 'Ben Torah' through study, prayer, and fear of sin.".

Rabbi Sternbuch explained the subtle but essential difference: "There is a big difference between a 'Torah student' and a 'son of Torah.' A Torah student is connected to the Torah only when he is studying. A 'son of Torah' is a different reality, he is connected to the Torah at all times, even when he is closing the Gemara. You can see that he is a son of Torah in all his actions.".

Referring to the role of the overseer, he emphasized: "There are places where the overseer only says 'philosophy,' but the main point of the path of morality is to awaken hearts to morality in its simplest form, to fulfill 'we will search our ways and search them out.' Now, God is coming with a new overseer who has already strengthened himself to awaken hearts, and this is a right choice and a fine thing.".

The head of the yeshiva extended his blessing to the new superintendent, urging him to stand firm on his watch, and noted that the yeshiva is a "temple" that must be entered with awe.

The event was attended by the eminent rabbis, yeshivot heads and supervisors: Rabbi Mordechai Shapira, Rabbi Lipa Zeitzik, Rabbi Yehoshua Mishkovsky, Rabbi Chaim Green, Rabbi Avraham Yeshayahu Soklover, Rabbi Shraga Keshash, Rabbi Meir Frank, and yeshiva rabbis Rabbi Yechezkel Perbstein and Rabbi Naftali Zvi Yehuda Leib Feinstein.
