Lt. Col. (res.) Ido Fromer, the late IDF reserve officer, 56 years old, was killed yesterday (Wednesday) in a tragic civilian parachuting accident in the Ramon Crater.
The accident occurred during a private civilian skydiving activity. For reasons that have not yet been clarified, Frommer's parachute crashed into the depths of the crater.
Upon receiving the report, large rescue forces from the regional rescue unit were dispatched to the scene, along with fighters from Unit 669 of the Air Force.
After complex rescue operations in the crater's terrain, the forces managed to reach him, but tragically, a doctor from Unit 669 was forced to pronounce him dead at the scene.
Lt. Col. (res.) Fromer, the late, served in active reserve service as a cell commander in the Air Force. Due to his being in active reserve service, the IDF decided to recognize him as an IDF martyr.
His funeral will take place today at 4:30 PM in the military section of the Yeruham cemetery.
He left behind four sons and grandchildren.
