The Supreme Court, sitting as the High Court of Justice, this morning (Thursday) considered with an expanded panel of seven judges petitions demanding the establishment of a state commission of inquiry to examine the events of October 7 and the 'Iron Swords' War.
The judges who will decide the petitions are the Deputy President of the Supreme Court, Noam Solberg, David Mintz, Yael Wilner, Ofer Grosskopf, Alex Stein, Khaled Kabub, and Yechiel Kasher.
The judges will be required to decide whether to turn the temporary order they issued to establish a state investigation committee into an absolute order.
The hearing, which took place in the presence of bereaved families and Knesset members, was dramatically interrupted after protesters tried to storm the courtroom - and court security ordered the judges to immediately evacuate to their chambers, as citizens were trying to break into the courtroom.
The protesters outside the hall shouted: "Dictatorship.".
The bereaved mother, Galia Hoshen, felt unwell and sat down on the floor, at the foot of the entrance.

The Judiciary Spokesperson stated:
The judiciary views with great seriousness the attempt today to break into the Supreme Court courtroom during a hearing, in violation of a judicial decision and contrary to the instructions of the Court Guard.
This is an exceptional and extremely serious incident, which is not in line with the required norms of conduct in any governmental institution, and certainly not in a court of law.
Courtrooms are a space designed to ensure a fair, just, and respectful process – as a basis for exercising rights and upholding the principles of democracy. Maintaining order, the safety of those present, and the rule of law is a necessary condition for ensuring the independence of the judicial process.
The judiciary will continue to maintain the independence of the judicial process, act without fear, and maintain the security of litigants and their attorneys, judges, and all who enter the courthouse gates.
