As part of improving readiness for immediate combat scenarios and preparing for a decade of security challenges, the Defense Procurement Directorate (DPD) at the Ministry of Defense has issued multi-year orders for the purchase of aerial munitions manufactured by Elbit Systems, totaling over 600 million shekels.
The transactions are led by the Deputy Chief of the Air and Sea Procurement Unit.
The production of the air weapons will be carried out at Elbit factories across the country, which employ thousands of workers.
Defense Minister Israel Katz: "We continue to strengthen the State of Israel's armament independence. The IDF must have the means at all times to act forcefully, quickly, and without dependence on external factors. In the days when we celebrate the 78th Independence Day, this has special significance. True independence is also measured by the ability to produce and defend ourselves on our own. We will continue to act with determination to ensure that the State of Israel relies on its strength and is ready for any challenge.".
Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Maj. Gen. Amir Baram: "The current deal is another practical step in implementing the Ministry of Defense's strategy to expand the Israeli defense production base. Faced with the complex challenges and lessons of war, it is our duty to ensure the State of Israel's weapons independence and strengthen the 'blue and white' production capabilities. We are not only equipping ourselves for the immediate term, but are laying an infrastructure that will allow the IDF to reach any combat scenario, relying on independent production capabilities, advanced technology, and continuity of supply.".
Bezalel (Butzi) Machlis, President and CEO of Elbit Systems: "This series of contracts illustrates Elbit Systems' position as a technological leader in the field of aerial armaments. We are proud of our long-standing partnership with the Israeli Ministry of Defense and our ongoing commitment to the development and supply of precise and reliable solutions, which are among the factors that enable the Israeli Air Force's air superiority.".
