The war in Ukraine continues to take a heavy toll on Jewish communities: Tonight (Wednesday), during an attack that included the widespread launch of drones and missiles towards Ukrainian cities, the home of Rabbi Zelig Braz, director of the Jewish community in Dnipro and Chabad emissary in the city, was hit.

The impact occurred when a "suicide" UAV struck an open area very close to the residential building.

As a result of the force of the blast and the interceptor sprays that were fired in the area, the family's home was severely damaged. The windows of the house were completely shattered, and shrapnel penetrated the rooms.

One of the rabbi's children was slightly injured by shards of glass, received initial medical treatment at the scene, and is in good condition.

Photos from the scene show a small crater created by the impact near the building, smoke rising from the ground, and holes made by shrapnel in the windows.

Inside the house: a window sill covered in a thick layer of shattered glass, overturned flower pots, and a prayer book placed next to the shards.

""It was a great miracle that the injury ended in such a minor way," the Jewish community says. "The impact was tremendous, the whole house shook. Shrapnel and interception parts hit the structure directly. The child was injured by glass and his life was saved.".

Rabbi Zelig Braz is considered one of the central figures in the city of Dnipro, and he works under the Chief Rabbi in place of Rabbi Shmuel Kamenitzky.

As the director of the Jewish community in Dnipro, he operates one of the largest Jewish centers in the world - the "Menorah" center. Since the outbreak of the war, Rabbi Raez has been working non-stop for thousands of Jewish refugees who have come to the city from the fighting zones in the east of the country, and operates a large-scale humanitarian aid network, together with the Chabad network in the country, JRNU.

Dnieper, which serves as an important logistical and strategic junction for Ukraine, has been suffering from frequent bombings in recent weeks. Only recently were several deaths and dozens of injuries reported in the city as a result of direct hits on residential buildings and infrastructure.

Despite the constant danger, Chabad emissaries in the city, including Rabbi Ra'az, continue to remain in place and maintain the life of the community and Jewish institutions under fire.
