For several months, an undercover investigation has been underway at Lahav 433, in cooperation with the Prison Service, which began with information transferred from the Israeli Prison Service regarding suspicion of corruption offenses against an Israeli Prison Service officer who serves as a division commander at one of the prisons in the country.
This morning (Monday), with the transition to the open phase of the investigation, an IPS officer and two prisoners were arrested - and additional suspects are being questioned.
According to the suspicion, the suspect, who is a division commander, is a member of criminal elements and, through their mediation, granted the prisoners under his charge various benefits in exchange for favors he took from them and others.
Subsequently, in accordance with the needs of the investigation, the suspects will be brought for an extension of detention at the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court.
