Another serious security incident was revealed today: Following a joint investigation by the General Security Service and the central unit in the Jerusalem district, a prosecutor's statement was filed today (Saturday) against a 21-year-old Jerusalem resident, suspected of committing serious security offenses of conspiracy and espionage for Iran.

The suspect was arrested about ten days ago, and the investigation revealed that during 2025, the suspect made contact with an Iranian intelligence official through one of the social networks.

Even though the operator's true identity was clear to him, the young man chose to continue the contact and even carry out a series of operational missions for him in the field.

According to the findings of the investigation, the suspect was not content with merely transmitting verbal information, but also carried out tasks that included collecting information and visually documenting various strategic areas throughout the country.

In order to improve the quality of the information transmitted to Tehran, the suspect purchased photographic equipment and advanced technological means, all while fully aware that he was acting on behalf of an entity hostile to the State of Israel.

In exchange for his "services," the suspect received significant sums of money. To try to cover up the money's tracks, the payments were transferred to him using digital currencies, a method that has become very common among Iranian recruitment agencies in recent times.

The police and Shin Bet emphasize that this is a consistent method of operation by the Iranian enemy, who is trying to hunt down young Israelis through social media and lure them with money to carry out missions that harm the state's security.

The Shin Bet and the Israel Police stated: "We once again warn the public against having contact with foreign entities whose identities are unknown and against carrying out missions for them, and will continue to act with determination and in cooperation with all security agencies to locate, thwart, and bring to justice those involved.".
