Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement in English this afternoon (Sunday), following the successful operation to rescue the navigator whose plane was shot down in Iran on Friday.
Netanyahu said: "All Israelis are happy about the amazing rescue of a brave American pilot by the brave US military fighters.".
He added: "This proves that when free societies muster courage and determination, they can confront seemingly insurmountable obstacles and overcome the forces of darkness. This rescue operation reinforces the sacred principle: No One Is Left Behind. This is a value shared by both our countries.".
""As a country that has repeatedly carried out daring rescue operations, and as a person who was injured in such a mission and lost a brother in the Entebbe rescue, the Israelis and I know what a bold decision you made. Your leadership has once again brought a great victory to America. I salute you.".
Iran International reported earlier that the Shaldag and IDF commando units participated in the American operation to rescue the navigator.
Previously, Fox News reported that Israel was involved in the rescue operation, by sharing intelligence with the US and stopping Iranian attacks in the region.
