In light of the opposition of the ultra-Orthodox factions to the law, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir today addressed the ultra-Orthodox Knesset members: "Tomorrow, the death penalty law for terrorists will come to the plenary for a second and third reading, God willing. On Monday evening, the State of Israel can enter a new era.".

According to him, "Today everyone already understands that this law is the most important law to come to the Knesset in the last decades. Unlike in the past, today even the Shin Bet, the army, the police, and the IPS recommend this law - and admit: it will scare our enemies.".

Minister Ben Gvir emphasized: "Especially after October 7, we must pass this law. This law is a law that allows the people of Israel to exist in their land; this law is a law that will prevent the lives of many, many, many people from being spared. When a terrorist comes to murder, he does not distinguish between secular, national religious, or ultra-Orthodox - he comes to kill us all.".

Ben Gvir added: "The people of Israel will not forgive anyone who tries to prevent this law from passing, the people of Israel will not forgive anyone who violates this law and in fact weakens the power of the people of Israel in the Land of Israel, according to the Torah of Israel. Tomorrow, Monday, everyone must vote: Death penalty law for terrorists.".

In the first reading vote, Rabbi Landau ordered to oppose the law on grounds of fear of harm to Jews around the world and the understanding that the legal system would not allow the sentence to be carried out in any case. Therefore, for now, the decision has not changed.
