Amit Segal, Channel 12's senior political commentator, claimed this evening (Saturday) that the media discourse surrounding the war presents a picture that does not match the reality on the ground.
According to him, there is a tendency to present Israel as weak or a loser, despite the ongoing attacks on the Iranian regime and its proxies.
Segal said: "I think there is a constant tendency in Israel - and I'm not talking about the private distress of the people, especially the residents of the north - of whining that says that if here and now Khamenei Jr. doesn't come out of the bunker and wave a white flag - that's already sourness and shuffling.".
According to him, the phenomenon is not unique to Israel. "It's not exactly an Israeli phenomenon, because all of the American media this past weekend was filled with descriptions of the war, as if Israel and the US lost to Iran. That's not what's happening.".
He noted that victory will be measured by the ability to remove the military threat: "The evil regime that has threatened the Middle East for 47 years through its proxies is taking blow after blow. The most important thing is what the White House spokeswoman said - there will be complete surrender, but don't expect the Iranians to do that.".
He concluded that according to military assessments, it will be possible to reach such a situation soon: "Victory will be when they will have no military capability to carry out this threat, and according to military assessments, we will be close to that in the Seder Night area.".
