The hacker group 'Khandela' hacked the Hebrew Language Academy website last night (Wednesday) - and shut it down.
Surfers who entered the site encountered a message in English that read: "No need to learn Hebrew anymore. You won't need it for much longer" - which means: "No need to learn Hebrew anymore. You won't need it for much longer.".
The site is back to full operation.
The academy responded: "This morning, the Hebrew Language Academy website was hacked, and a statement was published stating that soon there will no longer be a need to learn Hebrew. The hackers who hacked the site also understand that the Hebrew language is an integral part of the Zionist movement, and is an important element of Israeli culture, existence, and identity.
""The incident is being handled in cooperation with the National Cyber Command, and we are working to restore the site to normal operation as soon as possible.".
A message was also published later in Hebrew, Arabic, and English: "To the friends who hacked our website tonight - an important message from us: We don't learn Hebrew because we need it, we learn Hebrew because we love it.".
