Opposition leader, MK Yair Lapid, denied that he had a private meeting with Qatari officials. According to him, the meeting took place together with the families of the kidnapped.

However, contrary to his claim, Suleiman Maswad reported on Kan News that Lapid participated in a limited meeting with senior officials from Qatar, attended only by his team, and without the presence of the families of the kidnapped.

Only after that was another meeting held with representatives from three families of the kidnapped.

In the two meetings, which took place on January 12 of last year at the Four Seasons Hotel in Paris, Lapid praised the performance of the Qataris in the negotiations for the release of the hostages, and the parties talked about improving relations between the countries and future cooperation. As mentioned, representatives of three families of the hostages participated in the second meeting, and afterwards Lapid did indeed speak about it in the media.

Yesterday, Lapid wrote on the X network that "I had no 'meetings with Qatar,' there was one meeting together with the families of the kidnapped, which of course we reported on in the media.".

Lapid's office confirmed that he met alone with the Qataris: "As reported in real time, Lapid and his team sat with the Qatari representative for a discussion that dealt with the issue of the abductees, and then the families of the abductees joined them.

""Netanyahu's office, on the other hand, secretly received millions of dollars from the Qataris. Netanyahu used the Qataris to transfer tens of millions of dollars in suitcases of money to Hamas' military wing, and Netanyahu sat in the White House and apologized like a scolded child to the Qataris for the attack in Doha and pledged 'that it won't happen again.'".

""The sole purpose of these hysterical leaks is to divert the discussion from the law that Lapid placed on the Knesset table, according to which Qatar will be defined as an enemy state. We recommend that the Prime Minister's Office support the law instead of continuing to sell the security of the State of Israel for money.".
