A wealthy American Jew meets an 8-year-old boy. Hungry. Weak. Alone in the world. "Ask me whatever you want," he tells him. "I'll give you everything.".
The boy could have asked for bread. Shoes. A winter coat. But he asked for one thing that made the rich Jew burst into tears: to go to New York, to see the Rebbe Rayatz.
Thirty years pass.
Minnesota, USA. A young Jewish woman is sitting in a lecture. She doesn't believe that God sees her. She plans to leave Judaism the next morning. Then the lecturer mentions one name. The name of her grandfather who died before she was born.
And she realizes that the Rebbe planned this moment before her parents even met.
Rabbi Jacobson heard this story from the woman herself, at the Shabbat table in his home.
In honor of the Yod Shevat, the day of celebration of the Rebbe of the Rayatz.
