Yaakov Wider, a member of the Bnei Brak City Council, revealed unusual data from the municipality's budget for 2026.

According to Wider, while essential budgets for the public were cut, such as sewage, assistance to the weak, and cuts to the mikvah budget, the municipality chose to increase the communications and public relations budgets.

According to him, the budget for mikvahs was cut without any consultation with rabbis or halachic authorities, while the city leadership presents itself as "representatives of the Torah world.".

At the same time, other basic items were cut - including sewage, culture, and support for disadvantaged populations, while, as mentioned, communication and public relations budgets swelled.

Wieder sharply attacked at the city council meeting: "Religion doesn't interest the activists. The only religion that matters to them is the religion of the jobs and the combines.".
