After the recruitment of approximately 540 ultra-Orthodox soldiers this week: The IDF plans to increase operations to arrest deserters in the coming days.
According to Lilach Shoval's report in Israel Hayom, the intention is to try and arrest dozens of defectors from all walks of Israeli society, and not necessarily from ultra-Orthodox society.
At the same time, even now, the army does not intend to enter the Haredi cities, as it is estimated that the military police officers will not be able to fulfill their mission without a large police presence.
According to the report, the decision to increase arrest operations in the coming days was made after the successful recruitment drive this week, which is considered the largest recruitment drive for the ultra-Orthodox tracks to date.
Of the 537 ultra-Orthodox recruits, 230 are designated for combat and 307 for a variety of combat roles.
The army emphasizes that no arrest operations will be carried out that target only the Haredi public, but there is no doubt that after issuing 80,000 draft orders to young men from the settlements, the number of young men defined as deserters is increasing as time passes.
