Several soldiers got off the bus in an attempt to disperse the rioters, but eventually went back inside.
The police used stun grenades to disperse the rioters who were blocking the road.
MK Naor Shiri of the Yesh Atid party was quick to tweet on his X account that shots should be fired at protesters throwing stones at soldiers - based on a report that there had been stone-throwing.
Shiri, who called for bloodshed, wrote: "13 police officers injured. Vehicles overturned. An IDF bus was pelted with stones. Every protester who throws a stone at an IDF soldier should end the day with a bullet in the knee. No less.".
Some time later, he panicked - and deleted the tweet.
In a new tweet, he wrote: "I deleted the tweet. The image of soldiers and police officers being stoned in the State of Israel is an unfathomable event and resembles a terrorist event in my opinion. If a stone had hit a soldier and he had been injured, God forbid, the discourse would have been completely different regarding the limits of the demonstration.".
""I deleted it because our country is on the edge - and all the hateful interpretations of the ultra-Orthodox were not the purpose of the tweet.".
The IDF spokesman responded to the attack - and also repeated the lie: "Earlier today, Israeli civilians attacked and threw stones at a bus in Jerusalem, in which training soldiers and commanders from the Kfir Brigade were traveling.
""Following the bus's stop, which resulted from a gathering of civilians around it, the commanders got off the bus and secured it until the arrival of the Israel Police forces. The forces evacuated the protesters and allowed the bus to continue on its way. There were no casualties. "The IDF strongly condemns all violence against its soldiers," the statement said.
Since noon, hundreds of rioters have been creating chaos in the streets after attempting to rescue a detainee who was arrested by the police after attacking a municipal inspector. The protesters threw objects at the police and damaged a police vehicle.
Additional police forces and Border Guard soldiers, who were called to assist following the riots, were pelted with eggs, stones, and objects.
As a result of this violence and the actions of the rioters, 13 police officers were slightly injured, and 5 of them were evacuated to the hospital for medical treatment. In addition, significant damage was caused to 4 police vehicles.
According to the police, during the forces' activity and depending on the intensity of the disturbance, various means were used whose purpose was to deal with such a disturbance, including the use of batons, stun and gas grenades, tear gas canisters, and more.
So far, the police have arrested 4 suspects, including the suspect who allegedly attacked the municipality inspector, and they were taken for questioning at the police station.
