According to the hackers, the intrusion was carried out as part of 'Operation Octopus' led by the group.
''Khandela', which has previously operated against government and military infrastructure in Israel, published a media document that includes direct messages to Bennett - in which the hackers mock his security capabilities and describe the hack as an "easy capture" of an iPhone 13 that was allegedly in his possession.
To back up their claims, the group published a series of files containing documents allegedly extracted from the device, including a contact list containing the names of senior Israeli officials, internal correspondence, sensitive documents, and personal photos.
The leak also included documents bearing the names of senior ministers.
The group's statement states that the hack is not only a technological achievement, but also an act of psychological warfare - and they describe the information security of senior Israeli officials as "fragile.".
The group called on journalists to contact them on the X network for additional materials.
Bennett's office initially stated: "The issue is being handled by the relevant security and cyber agencies. The device is not currently in use.".
The bureau later announced: "Following the tests that were conducted, it appears that the phone was not hacked.".
