Two years after the disappearance of the girl Haymanot Kassau, Safed: The police are investigating whether there is a connection between an alleged attempted kidnapping of a girl in Be'er Sheva yesterday and Haymanot's disappearance two years ago.

Commissioner Danny Levy ordered today (Tuesday) to transfer the investigation file of the mystery to Lahav Unit 433.

According to a report this evening on Channel 12, the investigation is taking place after footage from the scene in Beersheba shows a man arriving at a girl's house in the city of Beersheba and causing her to run away screaming, in what appears to be an attempted kidnapping.

The girl seen in the footage, which was filmed by the neighbor across the street, is a good friend of Haymanot's, and it is suspected that the person in the footage also knows the missing 10-year-old.

The police are trying to find the suspect.

The person seen in the video in Beersheba lives in Safed, and Haymanot's family confirmed to Channel 12 that she knows the man and his family.

The police claim that the decision to transfer the investigation to Lahav Unit 433 was not made in light of developments in the investigation.

10-year-old Haymanot has been missing since February 25, 2024. She was last recorded on security cameras entering the absorption center where she lived with her family in Safed.

The police launched a search operation for her, but no leads were found.

The police also investigated, among other things, a criminal trend involving serious acts and investigated known pedophiles.

About six months ago, her father, Tesfai Kassau of Shesha, demanded that his daughter's status be changed from "missing" to "abducted," and criticized the police's work. "A nine-year-old girl disappeared and you can't find a sign a year and three months after she was kidnapped? At every meeting, the police say it's 'confidential.' What's the secret that's not being made public? The work isn't being done. She entered a reception center and then disappeared. Can't technological Israel say anything about this? It's keeping us awake at night.".
