After weeks of high-profile conflict: Defense Minister Israel Katz and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir held another meeting yesterday (Tuesday) in which they agreed to unify the supplementary investigations concerning the events of October 7, both those ordered by the minister and those directed to be carried out by the Chief of Staff.
The Defense Comptroller will serve as an observer on the investigative team dealing with the 'Jericho Wall' document, and he will also receive updates regarding the investigations that the Chief of Staff ordered to be conducted regarding the Operations Branch and the Navy.
The Defense Minister's Office statement further stated: "The Defense Comptroller will examine the Air Force investigation and the Turgeman report regarding the Air Force investigation regarding the role of Brigadier General Omer Tishler, who served as Air Force commander in the events of October 7, and will submit his conclusions as soon as possible to the Defense Minister.".
The confrontation began after General Zamir decided to remove a number of regular and reserve officers from their posts, after accepting the conclusions of the Turgeman Committee. This was done without coordination with Minister Katz, who ordered the measures to be frozen and the committee's conclusions to be examined.
