Dr. Yolanda Yavor, who was arrested last Thursday on suspicion of inciting violence against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - following a post she published on social media - has declared a hunger strike at Kishon Detention Center.
About 24 hours after her arrest, the police filed a request to extend her detention - and the court has since extended her detention once more. No indictment has yet been filed.
At the beginning of the discussion that took place two days ago, Yavor said: "People like Mordechai David threaten protesters and block them and curse them and everything is fine, but I have been in detention for two days, Hail Bibi.".
In a post published by Dr. Yavor that led to her arrest, she wrote: "The only choice before us is to be - that is: to fight the traitor, the shofars, the damned collaborators and his poor-ass paramilitary militias with all our might and by all means - or to cease. Choose correctly, my brothers and sisters. There will be no second round. We said 'democracy or rebellion,' remember? So, come on, rebellion. But a real one like this, imported from Romania, not from the Kaplan Express corner.".
She also wrote: "You don't overthrow a dictatorship at the ballot box," "Netanyahu is a traitor," and "They're coming to take you.".
In her decision, the judge wrote: "There is indeed suspicion of a call for violence.".
She noted that Yavor cooperated with the investigation, and even believed that her words did not express direct incitement to violence, but determined that there was a reason for arrest stemming from dangerousness, and to a lesser extent, fear of disrupting proceedings.
The 'Detainee Envelope' unit stated: "An investigation that was opened for political motives at the initiative of an extreme right-wing organization led to the detainee's defensive detention and now to a hunger strike. This is a non-dangerous 50-year-old woman whose life is at risk every moment in detention. Her relatives are concerned about her condition.".
The Im Tirtzu movement, which filed the complaint with the police, said in response to the hunger strike: "Ms. Yavor should be behind bars. The celebrity status she was given due to being an anarchist from the right side of the map must end. There's nothing to get excited about from the Hunger Games or her poor statements and spectacle. In the past, they called her the champion of arrests, didn't they? Yolanda incited, now she'll face the consequences.".
