An end to combos? The Ministry of Finance is promoting a government decision that will put an end to the trade in disabled parking permits, which has caused congestion in disabled parking lots and left many of them, who truly need them, helpless.

The Ministry of Finance notes that the number of vehicles with disabled tags has jumped in the last decade from 155,000 to 652,000: a four-fold increase.

According to the data, 20% of vehicles in Israel have a parking permit, and in some cities, every third vehicle has a disabled permit.

But now there is an end in sight to this wild 'celebration', which is also shared by many in the ultra-Orthodox community: This coming Thursday, the Finance Ministry's proposal will reach the government, according to which only those who are recognized as disabled will be able to receive a parking permit.

According to the proposal, the authorized government bodies responsible for recognizing the disabled will provide the most professional and reliable information, so that only those who truly need the badge will receive it. .

According to the plan, these bodies will transfer the relevant medical data to the responsible office, so that the issuance of the disability certificate will be based on professional and updated information, without the need for an additional bureaucratic process on the part of the applicant.

The Ministry of Finance emphasizes that after the move is approved, parking permits will be granted only to those who meet the conditions set forth in the law, with the aim of improving accessibility to designated parking for people with disabilities.
