Brigadier General (res.) Ofer Winter addressed today (Tuesday) the "affair of former IDF commander Yifat Tomer Yerushalmi" - claiming that she acted "out of ideological motives with the aim of emasculating the commanders and intimidating the fighters.".
Winter added that he knows this firsthand. He claims, "There is hardly a combat officer who has not been under investigation. Does that make sense to you?" Winter asks in a video he posted.
According to him, "There is an attempt by a group that thinks it is the moral leadership to educate the people of Israel and IDF soldiers according to progressive values. The MPA acted for political motives and did not act alone in the area. It had the full backing of the high command and the legal system.".
Winter emphasized: "This event must not be removed from the agenda, and we must continue to cleanse the IDF and all systems of the perception that the law controls everything and educates our fighters.".
He made it clear that in war, unity is needed: "In war, there must be one fist against the enemy and not dismantle the IDF from within. Righteousness and purity are destroying us.".
The former IDF chief of staff was arrested by the police when the leak from the Yemeni Field base broke out - and was released after a few days in custody. Two days later, she allegedly tried to end her life at home - and has since been hospitalized at the Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv.
