As part of the Ministry of Transportation's policy and Minister Regev's commitment to promoting North Jerusalem and Binyamin, work is being accelerated to upgrade and expand Highway 437 between Shaar Binyamin and Jerusalem.

The work being carried out by the Moriah Jerusalem Development Company heralds a new phase in an extensive transportation project worth approximately half a billion shekels, designed to significantly improve accessibility, safety, and traffic flow on the main access route for Binyamin residents to the capital.

The project on Highway 437 is part of a broad plan to improve connectivity to northern Jerusalem and the future connection to Highway 45. Upon its completion, a significant decrease in traffic congestion on the road to Jerusalem is expected, and Binyamin will finally have a modern, fast, and safe access route.

As part of the already completed advancement work, new lanes have been opened between the northern entrance to Hizma and the Hizma checkpoint and the roundabout leading to Jerusalem. The opening of the lanes is already bringing relief in the morning and evening hours, and is the opening shot for an overall improvement along the entire route.

At the same time, extensive work is underway along the route between Shaar Binyamin and the Hizma checkpoint in both directions. Dozens of engineering vehicles are working to widen the road to two lanes in each direction and to create an additional designated public transportation lane.

The goal is clear: to quickly transform Highway 437 into a continuous, fast, and safe route for the residents of Binyamin and the entire region.

In parallel with the significant progress on Highway 437, Highway 45 is also underway. After years of planning and anticipation, Moriah has completed the selection of the operating contractor, and work on the ground will soon begin. This is one of the main transportation infrastructures in the Jerusalem and Binyamin area in recent decades.

The new road, which is approximately 5.5 kilometers long, will connect the Shaar Binyamin junction to Shiko Qalandiya. In the next stage, the Atarot expressway from Shiko Qalandiya to the Begin Road in Jerusalem and to Highway 443 will be upgraded and added, allowing residents of East and Central Binyamin a new and fast exit to the center of the country without entering the city.

With the opening of Highway 45, drivers from Binyamin towards Tel Aviv and the center will no longer be required to pass through the Hizma checkpoint or Pisgat Zeev. The move will significantly reduce congestion on Highway 437, the Hizma checkpoint, Shuafat and the Ben Zion interchange, and improve traffic flow on the northern entrance routes to Jerusalem.

Residents of Pisgat Ze'ev and Jerusalem itself will also benefit from reduced congestion.

Minister of Transportation: "The progress of the major projects of Route 437 and Route 45 is a direct result of our commitment to promoting Jerusalem and Binyamin and the connection between them. After years of delays, we are bringing real solutions that will shorten travel times, reduce traffic jams and improve the quality of life of hundreds of thousands of residents. This is part of a broad vision to make the access routes to northern Jerusalem faster and safer.".

Ministry of Transportation Director General Moshe Ben-Zaken: "The Ministry of Transportation is working determinedly to move large projects forward at a rapid pace. The results are visible on the ground: new lanes that have already been opened are easing traffic congestion, and further significant improvements will be added later. Route 437 and Route 45 are moves that will change the face of transportation in northern Jerusalem and Binyamin, and we will continue to work in collaboration with the Moriah Company to bring the good news to the residents of the capital and its neighbors.""

Gilad Bar Adon, CEO of Moriah Jerusalem Development Company: "Moriah Company leads transformative infrastructure projects that connect Jerusalem to Binyamin and promote fast and safe transportation to the region. Upon completion of the work on Highway 437 and Highway 45, residents and travelers will feel a change and relief in a way that will significantly improve their quality of life.
