Maj. Gen. (res.) Noam Tivon, who joined Yair Lapid's Yesh Atid party last week, called on Blue and White Chairman Benny Gantz this morning (Monday) to resign - because he does not pass the electoral threshold.

In an interview he gave to Udi Segal and Anat Davidov on 103FM radio, he explained why he chose an old party, and did not establish a new body ahead of the elections.

""We need to carry out mergers and create strong parties that will form the next government. The idea is not to form parties but to unite them and create the best team," he said.

""We should strive to reach a body of 62-64 seats for the Zionist parties, and that is entirely possible. The idea is not to divide, but to unite. Anyone who does not pass the threshold - should not run. If he does not pass the threshold systematically, Benny Gantz should hang up his suit and not jeopardize the ability to form a Zionist government.".

The Blue and White party responded: "Noam Tivon already has experience signing petitions calling on Gantz to resign and then come to meetings and ask for forgiveness and a place on the list. We suggest he charge towards the target and engage less in double-edged sword.".
