Sagi Mor, 45 years old and a father of four from the village of Kala Alon, was found dead today (Thursday) in Thailand.

Moore, who was in the country on a family trip with his wife and their four children, was swept out to sea in northern Koh Phangan yesterday when he jumped into the water to save his son from drowning, but was swept away himself.

The incident began at around 2:30 p.m. (local time) when the family was walking on Chalokkalam beach in the north of the island. The younger son, who had entered the water, was swept away by a powerful wave. The father jumped into the water to rescue his son, and they returned safely. However, when he himself tried to return to shore, he was also swept away by the rough waves. He shouted to his wife that he would try to swim to nearby rocks, but another wave arrived and pulled him into the water.

From that moment on, extensive searches were launched: Thai police and coast guard forces operated at the scene using drones, helicopters, and vessels, while at the same time an Israeli search team was established, and hundreds of people, including local Chabad emissaries, worked at the scene to locate him.

Inbal, Sagi's wife, wanted to thank the family for the around-the-clock support they received, the Magen team, Clal Insurance, the Chabad House, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - and said after the difficult news: "In these difficult hours, I would like to thank with all our hearts the good people who mobilized to save Sagi. We are now gathering as a family to deal with the difficult news.".

His friend from the settlement, Shani Schneider, said of him: "Beyond being a neighbor, he is also a good friend who is always willing to help." Lilach Eliyahu, another friend of his from the settlement, wrote in a Facebook post in which she asked her friends to help financially in locating him: "Sagi Mor is a charming man.".
