An Israeli man in his 70s was stabbed to death at noon (Tuesday) in a combined attack at the Gush Etzion intersection.
Rescue forces, in cooperation with an IDF medical force, pronounced him dead at the scene.
In addition, a 58-year-old woman was seriously injured and a man about 30 years old and a boy about 15 years old were moderately injured.
The two terrorists, residents of the Palestinian town of Beit Ummar and Hebron, were eliminated at the scene. IDF forces are surrounding the villages in the Etzion Brigade area.
The injured were evacuated to Shaare Zedek and Hadassah Ein Kerem hospitals in Jerusalem.
An initial investigation revealed that the terrorists attempted to run over passersby at the Gush intersection. The two then got out of the vehicle, pulled out knives, and stabbed passersby.
Civilians and reserve soldiers from Battalion 7491 who identified the terrorists opened fire on them.
The IDF reported that several pipe bombs were found in the terrorists' vehicle. After an inspection by Border Police sappers, it emerged that the terrorists' vehicle did not contain an explosive device.
MDA paramedic Uriel Lavie said: "When we arrived at the scene, we recognized that this was an unusual and complex incident. We conducted a survey of the area and began checking the condition of the victims. We located a number of injured people who suffered penetrating injuries to their bodies. We provided them with initial medical treatment on the spot, and while stabilizing their condition, we evacuated them for further treatment at the hospital.".
Senior MDA medic Itzik Itach said: "I was caught up in the incident while traveling to a regular shift. Not a simple picture, a complex incident. I saw people lying on the road, scattered 30 meters apart, with penetrating injuries to the upper and lower body. It appears to be a run-over and stabbing incident. There had been some shooting before I arrived, I don't yet know from which side the shooting came. I provided initial treatment and we evacuated the injured to the hospitals.".
Dr. Alon Schwartz, director of the trauma unit at Shaare Zedek Hospital, said: "Two injured people came to us, a man about 30 years old and a boy of 15. The two underwent stabilization procedures in the trauma room, they are fully conscious and their lives are not in danger.".
Hadassah Medical Center: The injured woman who was evacuated to the trauma unit from the attack at the Gush Etzion intersection with a gunshot wound to the lower body, in serious condition, is currently undergoing surgery led by vascular and orthopedic specialists.
