Shabbat 'Hayei Sarah' in Hebron: Tens of thousands of people who came from all over the country to stay near the Cave of the Patriarchs and experience the sanctity of the place, as they do every year on the Shabbat of "Sarah's Life," packed the streets of the City of the Abort.
Already on Shabbat Eve, a sense of celebration was felt. The crowds that gathered at the venue, the singing, the large minyan prayers, and the meeting of all walks of life created a special sense of togetherness that is not seen every Shabbat in the city.
One of the main attractions on Saturday was a panel featuring National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, along with Otzma Yehudit ministers - Ministers Yitzhak Waserlauf and Amichai Eliyahu, and MK Limor Son Har Melech. Hundreds of people came to listen, ask questions and be strengthened, and the atmosphere was open, attentive and full of interest.
'The 'Yitzhak Hall' was opened for prayer, and the atmosphere of holiness was palpable - deep prayer, shared singing, and moments of elation that left an impression on many of the participants.
After the prayer, Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir held a Kiddushah Rava at his home, attended by dozens of people. The pleasant atmosphere, singing, and the feeling of a family and Jewish Shabbat in particular continued until the third meal, which was filled with holiness, a sense of connection, and togetherness.
Before the start of Shabbat, the Minister of National Security conducted a situation assessment with senior police officers responsible for securing the tens of thousands of revelers. Minister Ben-Gvir also toured the Tomb of the Patriarchs with police officers and reviewed the force assessments.
In assessing the situation, Minister Ben Gvir emphasized that worshippers and visitors to Hebron should be allowed to celebrate Shabbat in the safest possible way. Minister Ben Gvir noted that the police were prepared with the maximum force to prevent harm to Jews and added: "This Shabbat is a Shabbat in which we connect to the roots of our ancestors. I am full of respect for the district commander, the police and the other security forces operating in the field.".
Meanwhile, the commander of the Yehuda Police Department, Lt. Col. Eliyahu Zeitan, issued instructions to police officers in the field and emphasized that those celebrating should be respected: "In this week's parashah it is written that Abraham our father buys the burial plot of our mother Sarah, the Cave of the Patriarchs." According to him, "over the years, this Sabbath has become a celebration of settlement and crowds of Jews come to Kiryat Arba/Hebron to celebrate the Sabbath.".
The police emphasized maintaining the sanctity of the Sabbath: "Visitors of the Sabbath maintain its sanctity, please be sure to respect the visitors and refrain from publicly desecrating the Sabbath. All who come this Sabbath come to celebrate, remember this! Please avoid unnecessary confrontations and act with kindness towards citizens.".
