Joshua, 21 years old at the time of his death, was an agricultural student from Tanzania. He arrived in Israel about two weeks before October 7 as part of an internship program in the field of agriculture, and worked in a barn on Kibbutz Nahal Oz. On the morning of October 7, he was in the barn, and managed to take cover in a bomb shelter until the terrorists arrived, murdered and kidnapped him.
His family was informed of his murder on December 13, and his father, Luito, came to Israel to investigate what happened to his son that day.
Joshua left behind his parents and four younger siblings. His family said he was polite, kind, very hardworking, and had a big smile that never left his face.
The coffin of the astronaut was transferred from the hands of the terrorist organization's terrorists to the Red Cross, which handed it over to representatives of the IDF and the Shin Bet.
