The minister made it clear that he does not intend to give up the appointment, and explained why in his opinion it would be good for everyone.

Zohar described what led him to the decision to appoint the prime minister's son as head of the Publicity and Diaspora Division at the World Zionist Organization: "I came to an understanding with myself that I wanted to make a change in the national institutions and bring them to a better place. I offered him the position myself and when he agreed to it, I was very happy.".

According to Minister Zohar, all the leftist representatives knew he was being appointed two or three hours before the procedure itself, and the matter only exploded when his name was revealed in the committee - and "the media began a campaign of character assassination and then Yesh Atid folded.".

About the moment you told the prime minister that you intended to appoint your son to a senior position in the Zionist Organization, Zohar said: "He was stressed by it and he made sure they thought he was connected. I told him, 'You're not connected.' He wasn't exactly enthusiastic, but he wasn't the one who decided, it was me and my son.".

He listed the reasons why he believes Netanyahu Jr. is suitable for the position: "He is involved in Zionist advocacy and his language is fluent. He will receive a salary and work for it. He is returning to Israel. He is prohibited from engaging in politics. If he were appointed, he would be prohibited from political activities and he would not tweet. This appointment could have been the best thing that ever happened. When it comes to this populism of the Netanyahu family - everyone is going after him.".

For the confrontation with Minister Yitzhak Wasserlauf, which was documented and almost escalated into physical violence, Zohar blamed the "media sickos Otzma Yehudit," who took care to document and disseminate what happened.

""I'm not excited about any kind of campaign of this kind because the Likudniks are smarter than Ben Gvir thinks," said Zohar. "He brought the prime minister from his sickbed for his headline. They need to understand that threats don't work - if they threaten me, they won't get anything.".

The Yesh Atid party responded: "The words of the Likud's job combinator, Minister Miki Zohar, are a complete lie. From the moment we learned of the despicable decision to appoint the Prime Minister's son to a senior position, Yesh Atid blew up the negotiations. We cannot allow a person who fled Israel during wartime, who incites and divides Israeli society from abroad, to represent the country. We will continue to fight for our values. For our truth.".
