A vote on the appointment of Yair Netanyahu to a senior position in the Zionist Organization was postponed last night (Wednesday) by two weeks.
This is due to opposition from the Yesh Atid and Democrats factions, which arose the moment Netanyahu Jr.'s name was raised - who is expected to be appointed head of the Diaspora and Publicity Department at the World Zionist Organization, at the estimated salary of a government minister.
In light of the rejection of the decision, Yair Netanyahu responded to the attack against him and published past press clippings, which he claims prove the hypocrisy of opposition figures who have previously appointed associates and family members to public positions.
The press reports reported the appointment of Tamar Zanderberg's partner to a prestigious job and the appointment of Yair Lapid's relative to a senior position in the Zionist Organization.
The storm began after the Likud, as part of the "deal" with the opposition factions on the distribution of jobs in national institutions, sought to appoint the prime minister's son to the senior position - which led to the breakdown of the agreements between the parties.
Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar, who was behind the appointment proposal, wrote: "For years, representatives of the left have appointed relatives and associates to public positions, and when it comes to the Likud, it becomes a storm. This is a personal campaign of persecution by the left against the prime minister and his family. Yair only wanted to work for the Jewish people in the field of propaganda.".
The vote on the appointment is expected to take place in about two weeks, while in the meantime the public and political battle surrounding the issue continues.
