The National Planning and Building Committee submitted two new plans from the Ministry of Transportation for the comments of the district committees and the public, for the regulation and construction of seven infrastructure facilities for buses in the northern districts, Haifa, Tel Aviv and the center - in a total area of approximately 70 dunams.
The new plans are integrated into the long-term policy of the Minister of Transportation, within the framework of the national vision 'Connecting Israel', which includes the construction of approximately 650 new bus facilities nationwide by the end of the decade.
The new facilities are a key pillar in Israel's transition to green and advanced public transportation. The facilities include fast charging stations for electric buses, as part of a broad move to replace the entire national bus fleet with quiet, economical, and emission-free electric propulsion.
Each terminal will have operational parking lots, rest rooms for drivers, technical buildings and advanced infrastructure for managing and operating the buses. Some of the terminals, including Pardes Hanna and Eliakim, will also include stations for picking up and dropping off passengers and convenience services for the public.
The Ministry of Transportation notes that this infrastructure is a basic condition for expanding service to passengers, adding lines, and improving frequency, while significantly improving the quality of life for both drivers and passengers.
The planned facilities:
In the north and Haifa:
"Park and Ride" terminal at Elyakim Interchange: An operational terminal and a "park and ride" parking lot on an area of approximately 20 dunams, which will include 28 stands for regular and articulated buses and approximately 450 parking spaces for private vehicles - in favor of a transition to public and shared transportation before joining Highway 6.
Pardes Hanna South Terminal: An operational terminal with an area of approximately 10 dunams, including 42 stands for regular and articulated buses.
Olga South Terminal (Hadera): An operational terminal with an area of approximately 8 dunams, including 42 stands for regular and articulated buses.
In the center of the country:
Ben Shemen Terminal (Lod): An operational terminal with an area of approximately 5 dunams, including 22 parking spaces for regular-sized buses.
Ness Ziona Interchange Terminal: An operational terminal with an area of approximately 8 dunams, including 43 parking spaces for regular and articulated buses.
University Terminal East (Tel Aviv-Yafo): An operational terminal with an area of approximately 5 dunams, including 18 parking spaces for regular and articulated buses.
Yad Harutsim Overnight Parking Lot (Netanya): An administrative and overnight parking lot in an area of approximately 16 dunams, which will include parking for 115 regular-sized buses.
Minister of Transportation Miri Regev: "We continue to connect Israel from north to south, and are also building the infrastructure behind the scenes of public transportation. The plans for establishing the operating facilities will enable efficient operation of the bus network, expand service to the public, and accelerate the transition to green public transportation. This is another step in the public transportation revolution that we are leading for the citizens of Israel.""
