National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was a guest tonight (Saturday night) on the "Meet the Press" studio on Keshet 12 - and was asked why he did not resign from the government after the release of hundreds of murderous terrorists with "blood on their hands.".

Ben Gvir replied: "First of all, it's strange to me, because I have déjà vu. When I resigned and came here for an interview, you asked me with exactly the same seriousness, 'Why a government affair?' So I'll explain. I resigned from the government because they stopped the fighting. I said even then: 'I won't bring down the government, if they return to fighting and dismantle Hamas - I'll return.'.

""I said what kind of thing is this selection in a partial deal? Some are coming back, some are not. Today they brought everyone back. And I want to, and that's also what Netanyahu promised me - the matter of dismantling Hamas. If he doesn't dismantle Hamas, he knows very well what will happen.".

""Yes, I won't say what. There is a deadline for two things, it's not just to dismantle Hamas. I want something else. Netanyahu promised me, and he told me this in the coalition agreement: a death penalty law for terrorists. It's true, it's moral, it will make them not kidnap (Israelis). Netanyahu promised me this for the last two years.

""Every time I asked, our dear prime minister, whom I respect very much, told me: 'Listen, Ben Gvir, we have hostages, the hostages will be released alive and we will do it,'" Ben Gvir revealed. "Now there are no excuses. The prime minister knows I am serious.".

Is this the reason the Haredim are hesitant to return to the government? Because they say, Ben Gvir is dissolving the government anyway and we're going to have elections.

""Whenever Netanyahu listened to me, it paid off for him. If he dismantles Hamas, passes a law imposing the death penalty on terrorists, then, God willing, this government will exist by the end of the term.".

""This is exactly why I want a death penalty law for terrorists. This is exactly the reason. I want to change the concept. If we kill them, if we eliminate them, if we execute them - no one can kidnap a soldier and tell us to release them.".

""They should not see the light of day. They should die. Netanyahu promised me this, he stipulated it in the coalition agreement with me, he told me all these two years, 'Minister, the kidnapped will return and I will do it. This is his commitment.".

You signed this deal, you released 2,000 terrorists, including hundreds of murderers - and you still sit in the government.

Ben Gvir replied: "This is exactly why I want the death penalty. And as for remaining in the government - the public is not stupid. They saw that I resigned, and they know that I am fighting for my ideology. Netanyahu understands that we cannot end without victory. This is our duty. By the way, this is not just politics.

""On the issue of disbanding Hamas, Netanyahu agreed with me in full, and on the issue of death to terrorists, he is in agreement with me. He has a signature. He signed for me that we are going to this legislation. Now he has no excuses.".

You're counting on scaring Netanyahu more than Trump.

""I don't scare Netanyahu. I'm Netanyahu's partner, but I want Netanyahu, just as the entire Israeli people want him, a people of lions, a people that eliminates terrorists.".
