Good news for the residents of Hadera and the region: A new, modern, integrated transportation center will be established in the southwest of the city of Hadera, near a new train station, which is planned to be built in the complex.
The Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Finance, and the Hadera Municipality signed today (Thursday) an agreement to relocate the old central bus station in Hadera to a new and modern complex, which will include a central bus terminal, underground parking lots, and a train station.
The signing ceremony held at the central bus station in Hadera was attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Transportation, Moshe Ben Zaken; the Mayor of Hadera, Nir Ben Haim; the Head of the National Public Transportation Authority, Idan Mualem; the Director of Government Housing at the Accountant General, Michael Ravzin; Deputy Mayor, Shlomo Bozaglo, and members of the City Council.
The privately owned central bus station in Hadera has been operating since the 1960s and has served the residents of the city and surrounding area for decades.
The transfer to a new complex, which will be built in an advanced configuration, will allow for a dramatic improvement in the level of service for passengers, accessibility and user experience, will create a better connection between urban and intercity transportation lines, will reduce congestion and shorten times.
The new agreement guarantees a transition to a temporary station in the first phase, until the establishment of a new and advanced transportation center in western Hadera on an area of 15 dunams, near the Energy Park business complex, which will include an extensive bus terminal fully integrated with the upgraded train station, underground parking lots and commercial areas, an air-conditioned passenger hall and a taxi rank - all for the benefit of the residents of Hadera and the surrounding area, with an emphasis on public transportation users.
The move will significantly reduce operating costs compared to the current situation and transfer management to state ownership, after decades in which the station was operated by a private entity.
