In the Haredi community of Rechsim: A 5-year-old boy riding a bicycle was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle

A 5 and a half year old boy was seriously injured today (Tuesday) by a vehicle while riding his bicycle on Rav Kook Street in the Haredi settlement of Rechsim - and was taken to Rambam Hospital in Haifa unconscious with multiple systemic injuries.

MDA paramedic Uriah Dadon, who arrived at the scene, said: "The child was lying on the road unconscious with severe injuries. We began by providing first aid in the field, which included assisting with breathing and stopping bleeding, and evacuated him in an intensive care unit while he was sedated and on a ventilator.".

Rescue medics Oriya Dadon and Avi Boyar: "When we arrived at the scene with an MDA ambulance that we staff, we found a cyclist, unconscious with multiple systemic injuries after being hit by a vehicle. Together with MDA medics and paramedics, we provided him with initial medical treatment, including stopping bleeding, bandaging, and providing respiratory assistance, and he was evacuated in serious condition to continue receiving medical treatment in the trauma room at Rambam Hospital in Haifa.""

Moshe Adler, a senior paramedic at the United Hatzalah, and paramedic Chim Atiya: "This is a child riding his bicycle who was hit by a vehicle. After the initial medical aid we provided him at the scene, he was taken to Rambam Hospital, where at this stage his condition is described as serious.".

Police forces from the Zebulon station, together with traffic accident investigators from the Asher area, began investigating the circumstances of the accident and detained the driver of the vehicle at the scene.
