Ahead of the holiday travel wave and in light of the increasing number of sting cases: The Airports Authority issued a warning today (Tuesday) to passengers departing from Ben Gurion Airport against using external parking services offered by valet parking.
The Authority emphasized that the airport does not have this type of service, and anyone who offers it is acting against the law, without supervision, and may cause serious harm to passengers.
The Ben Gurion Airport Public Complaints Department recently received many inquiries from passengers who used these agents and, upon returning from abroad, discovered that their vehicle had traveled hundreds or even thousands of kilometers while they were on vacation.
Others received damaged vehicles, and sometimes, long after their return, traffic tickets, parking tickets, and speeding tickets. Many passengers even said they were unable to receive an invoice for the service they paid for.
The Airports Authority emphasizes that these services are offered only by "scammers", without a permit and contrary to the law. "The authority is not responsible for any damage caused to passengers or vehicles, and anyone who chooses such a service assumes the full risk," the Airports Authority says.
Following the increase in cases, the Airports Authority decided to intensify measures against these companies, file legal claims, remove their representatives from Ben Gurion Airport, and take action to prevent their activities within the airport.
The Israel Airports Authority notes that the official and safest alternative is to use only the authority's short-term or long-term parking lots located throughout Ben Gurion Airport.
A free and convenient shuttle service is available from all long-term parking lots directly to the terminals.
