Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told ministers last night at a political-security cabinet meeting that President Trump opposes a partial deal.
""Trump said to leave the partial deals and said - 'Go in with all your might and get this over with,'" Netanyahu told the ministers.
According to a report on Channel 12, the issue of the hostages was not on the agenda at all during the discussion. Despite this, Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir expressed support for a partial deal and told those present: "There is an outline on the table and it must be taken.".
Zamir also emphasized that Operation 'Gideon's Chariots' created conditions for the return of kidnapped people.
In contrast, Deputy Chief of Staff Major General Tamir Yadai claimed that only when there is an "unbearable" blow will Hamas surrender. According to him, the terrorist organization's surrender will only come with the help of a full occupation "with all the costs involved.".
A serious confrontation also occurred between the Chief of Staff and Sarah Orit Struck, when the latter implied that agreeing to a partial deal was "cowardice." Struck quoted from the sources: "And every man who is fearful and tender-hearted will go and return to his house, and will not melt his brother's heart with his own heart.".
Zamir, who realized that he was actually being accused of cowardice, raised his voice: "I make powerful decisions that no one else has made. If you want blind discipline - bring someone else.".
Netanyahu concluded: "I don't want blind discipline - and I also don't want to break the framework.".
During the discussion, the issue of IDF forces' activity in areas where there are apparently kidnapped people also came up, at which point Strok said firmly: "There must be no 'don't touch me' zones in Gaza. This endangers the residents of the surrounding area and the south." Strok also claimed: "In order to decide the war, we need to take control of these areas as well and not leave them as a bubble of terror above and below the ground.".
Regarding the fear of harming the hostages, she said: "A great effort must be made not to harm them.".
The religious Zionist minister posted an explanation of the verse on her X account and tried to explain her words. But in fact, she launched another attack on the Chief of Staff, calling his words "the heart-melting effect that accompanies the effort to drag us away from the decision to subdue Gaza.".
During the discussion, Minister Ben-Gvir demanded a vote that Israel would not agree to a partial deal. In response to Ben-Gvir, Prime Minister Netanyahu replied: "It's not on the agenda - there's no need for a vote.".
According to News 12, those close to the prime minister explained that the reason for this is that the decision - to act solely for a comprehensive deal that would include the return of all the abductees - had already been made.
According to them, Israel currently does not have the American legitimacy to move forward with only a partial outline, and therefore any attempt to put forward other proposals is rejected in advance.
