Thousands of female students studying at Ashkenazi seminaries in Jerusalem, who were supposed to begin the school year tomorrow, were left stunned this afternoon (Sunday), given what appeared to be a postponement of the start of the school year.

According to a report in 'Urdu Jerusalem', the drama began with a recording by the 'Old Seminary' for all female students.

According to the plan, today at 4:00 PM, the first-year students were supposed to arrive for the New Year's commencement ceremony. However, two hours earlier, an official announcement was issued by the seminary administration stating that the ceremony was canceled "by order that just came from the great men of Israel.".

The reason for the postponement was not given, but it is likely that this is a continuation of the seminary placement saga. While all the seminaries in the city submitted to the municipality's placement dictates, the "Branch" seminary insisted on rejecting the proposed placements - and was even summoned for a hearing.

According to the report, thousands of seminary students are wondering whether this is just a specific seminary - or whether the rabbinical teaching includes all Ashkenazi seminaries in the city.

The girls are frustrated by the sudden postponement of the start of the school year, but also by the fact that the placement tests may be postponed once again, after the students have spent long days studying.

The "selection tests" sort students into groups in math and English. These tests are usually held at the end of the last year of school, in preparation for entering the seminary, but due to the seminary placement saga, the exams were postponed until the beginning of this year.

Over the past week, students have spent days and nights studying to succeed in the qualifying exams that determine their success throughout the year, and now they are left frustrated by the possibility that the exams will be postponed once again.
