A significant breakthrough: Ten million shekels will be cut from government ministries and transferred to the Moldovan government, in order to prepare infrastructure for the benefit of travelers to Uman ahead of Rosh Hashanah.
The government decided to allocate the budget of millions to finance the transit through Moldova, following its demand for payment for the use of its infrastructure.
In addition, a team of experts has been established to manage the negotiations with Moldova on the amount of payment and infrastructure arrangements.
According to a report on the i24 channel, the decision was made during a discussion on the plan to allow military service "dodgers" to leave the country to travel to Uman.
The budget will come from five ministries: the Prime Minister, the Interior, the Foreign Affairs, the Heritage and the Transportation - two million shekels from each ministry. The budget is intended to equip a dedicated terminal in Chisinau, reinforce teams at land border crossings and set up tent cities for containment and reorganization, in order to regulate the pressure of thousands of passengers.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the execution of these two tasks - transferring the funds to Moldova and finding a solution for the exit of 'evaders' - after internal political pressure within Likud - from MK Eliyahu Revivo, who sees himself as Breslov's representative in the Knesset, and pressure from the Haredi parties.
During the discussion, the Prime Minister said: "They are traveling to pray, not for a trip. We need to find a solution for them.".
