The traffic chaos is getting worse: The Israel Railways announced today (Tuesday) that starting tomorrow and until next Tuesday, train traffic in Tel Aviv will be suspended, and travel between the north and south of the country will not be possible.
Tel Aviv Hashalom Station will be temporarily closed.
Also, following the work, trains coming from the south will reach Lod, trains from Jerusalem and Modi'in will reach Ben Gurion Airport, and trains from the north will reach Tel Aviv Savidor Central Station.
The work will be carried out in the center of the railway network, between the Tel Aviv HaHagana and Tel Aviv Savidor Center stations, and will include "treatment and upgrading of essential infrastructure components.".
During the expected disruptions, Israel Railways will operate a bus line between the Tel Aviv HaHagana, Tel Aviv Hashalom, and Sabidor Merkaz stations, every five minutes and free of charge. In addition, service attendants will be increased and stationed at the stations to provide guidance and assistance to passengers.
According to the Israel Railways Company, it was decided to "seize the opportunity" in light of the disruptions in train traffic due to the electrical fault that began on Friday, and to incorporate essential safety work that was originally planned for September.
The company claimed in a statement: "The move is intended to prevent double harm to the traveling public, both now and in a few weeks" - and therefore it was decided to advance the work by several weeks.
This work is expected to allow the service to return to normal gradually starting on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, first from the south and later also from the north.
